A hamlet and estate in the Buchan district of Aberdeenshire, Cortes lies a quarter-mile (0.5 km) north of Lonmay and 1¼ miles (2 km) southeast of Rathen. Cortes House lies a mile (1.7 km) to the west northwest, between Cortes Den and Cortes Loch, and was built as Mormond House in 1810. Surrounding farms include Nether Cortes and Bluebog of Cortes.
