Buccleuch

Scottish Borders

A location in the Scottish Borders, Buccleuch lies on the Rankle Burn, a tributary of the Tweed, 12 miles (20 km) west of Hawick. The original stronghold of the Scotts of Buccleuch once stood here and it is from here that they took their title, becoming the Barons of Buccleuch in 1606, the Earls of Buccleuch in 1619 and finally the Dukes of Buccleuch in 1663.
