A small village in the Dumfries and Galloway parish of Rerrick, Auchencairn is situated close to Auchencairn Bay, an inlet of the Solway Firth, 10 miles (16 km) east of Kirkcudbright. The village benefits from a post office and a primary school. Auchencairn Parish Church is a small Neo-Gothic building with steeply-pitched roof and dates from 1858.
