Cardrona Village

A commuter village in the central Scottish Borders, Cardrona lies in the valley of the River Tweed, 3 miles (5 km) southeast of Peebles. The village has been subject to significant planned development from the late 1990s which has brought more than 180 new executive homes, a country club and a luxury 150-bedroom hotel. Cardrona House (1840) lies to the south below a wooded hill on which stand the remains of an earlier tower. Cardrona station served the former railway line that linked Peebles and Galashiels between 1866 and the 1960s.
