A hamlet of E Aberdeenshire, Blackdog lies on the east side of the A90 trunk road, just to the north of the Blackdog Burn, 5 miles (8 km) north of Aberdeen. The boundary between Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City lies immediately to the south. Rifle ranges exist on the Blackdog Links to the northeast and the Blackdog Rock lies just offshore.
