Haun

(Haunn)
Western Isles

The eastern part of an agglomeration of townships which forms the major settlement on the island of Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides, Haun (Gael: Haunn) lies in the northwest of the island 5 miles (8 km) south of Lochboisdale (South Uist). The settlement, which overlooks the Sound of Eriskay to the north, is a centre for prawn and lobster fishing and the manufacture of textiles. A causeway crossing the Sound of Eriskay to link with South Uist lies immediately to the west and the township of Rubha Ban beyond.
