Lochbrown

East Ayrshire

A location on the border of South Ayrshire and East Ayrshire, Lochbrown lies 2½ miles (4 km) north northwest of Mauchline and was once the site of Brown Loch, the water from which was once used to drive flour mills, but was drained in the 19th century. The Glasgow and South Western Railway now crosses the site of the former loch, but a bridge on the B744 road is still known as the Lochbrown Bridge.
