Stephen Jardine


1963 -

Television journalist and presenter. Born in Dumfries, Jardine was educated at Dumfries Academy, the University in Edinburgh and in Cardiff. He began his career as a reporter at Radio Tay in Dundee before joining Scottish Television in Glasgow. He worked as a reporter in Edinburgh and Glasgow, before presenting Scotland Today with Viv Lumsden, Shereen Nanjiani and Kirsty Young.

Jardine joined GMTV as their Scotland correspondent in 1993, moving to Paris as their Europe Correspondent, but returned to Scottish Television in 2000. As well as Scotland Today, he has presented the motoring series Wheel Nuts (2000), magazine programme Room At The Top (2000), the Millennium Hogmanay Show and current affairs programme Seven Days (2003). He also writes a column for the Scotsman newspaper. In 2004, he won the Royal Television Society award for 'Best Regional Presenter'. He founded a company to promote Scotland's food and drink in 2010.

Jardine now lives in Newhaven in N Edinburgh.
