Water of Deugh

A river principally of Dumfries and Galloway, the Water of Deugh rises on the eastern slopes of Windy Standard to the north of Cairnsmore of Carsphairn on the border with East Ayrshire. For the first part of its course it flows northwest and then southwest for 5 miles (8 km), forming the boundary between these Council Areas. It then turn south to Carsphairn and finally flows in a southeasterly direction before entering the head of Kendoon Loch. A further section leaves this loch at a dam half-way along its length and flows south for 2 miles (3 km) to meet the Water of Ken at Kendoon. It has a total length of 20 miles (32 km).
