Murrayfield Stadium

Murrayfield Stadium lies to the west of the city centre, approximately 1½ miles (2.5 km) from Edinburgh Castle, to the south of Corstorphine Road and is the home of the Scottish Rugby Union, Edinburgh Rugby and of the Scottish Claymores American Football team. The stadium first opened in 1925 and gained its record crowd in 1975 when 104,000 people watched Scotland beat Wales. The East Stand was added in 1983, and a comprehensive redevelopment in the early 1990s brought the stadium up to modern standards. It now has a seating capacity of 67,500, the largest stadium in Scotland. The stadium also provides a popular music venue, with notable performers including David Bowie (1983), U2 (1987 and 1997), Tina Turner (1996), The Rolling Stones (1999 and 2018), Madonna (2012), Bruce Springsteen (2023) and Taylor Swift (2024).

The Edinburgh Rugby Stadium opened immediately to the west in 2021, while Murrayfield Ice Rink lies just to the northwest.
