Corsehouse Reservoir

A reservoir which is divided by the borders of East Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire Council Areas, Corsehouse Reservoir is located to the west of the M77 motorway, 4 miles (6.5 km) south of Neilston and 5 miles (8 km) northeast of Stewarton. Retained by an earth embankment dam, it is operated by Scottish Water for the supply of drinking-water to the latter, and associated villages of Dunlop, Lugton and part of Fenwick. It extends to an area of 49.8 ha (123 acres). A water treatment works was built in 1974 and upgraded 2007-08. The reservoir is noted for its bird-life and dragonflies. It also supports a brown trout fishery, managed by Eaglesham Angling Association.
