Brownmuir Plantation

An old plantation woodland in North Ayrshire, on the border with Renfrewshire, which is now discontinuous and naturalised, featuring a mix of birch, beech, oak, rowan and Scots Pine. Extending to approximately 26.1 ha / 64.5 acres, Brownmuir Plantation covers the slopes of Brownmuir Hill, to the northeast of Beith. The area is wet and the habitat is characterised by large hummocks of Sphagnum moss.
