Loch Earn

Occupying an east-west valley at the western end of Strath Earn in central Perth and Kinross, Loch Earn lies 30 miles (48 km) west of Perth and 6 miles (10 km) due south of the Killin end of Loch Tay. Situated at an elevation of 93m (306 feet) above sea-level, it is 6½ miles (11 km) in length and has an area of 10.13 square km (3.91 square miles) and a mean depth of 42m (138 feet). The River Earn, which issues from its eastern end, flows eastwards to join the River Tay near Bridge of Earn just south of Perth. Leisure activities on the loch include sailing, water skiing and fishing, facilities being located at the settlements of Lochearnhead and Auchraw at the western end of the loch and at St Fillans which is located at the eastern end of the loch.
