Muck Water

A small river of East Ayrshire, the Muck Water has its source in plantation forest to the north of Campbells Hill, and is joined almost immediately by the Lochen Burn. It flows west, receiving several other small streams and then descending into Glen Muck, a half-mile (0.8 km) north of Loch Muck (to which it is not connected). It turns northwest to Dalmellington and then west northwest to fall into the River Doon a quarter-mile (0.5 m) northwest of Bogton Loch, having completed a course of 6 miles (10 km). This river should not be confused with another Muck Water 21 miles (33 km) to the southwest in South Ayrshire.
