Glen Spean

A significant valley of the Lochaber district of Highland Council Area, Glen Spean runs west southwestwards from Kinloch Laggan for 20 miles (33 km), carrying the waters of the River Spean and A86 Trunk Road toward Spean Bridge. The West Highland Railway runs along the western half of the valley having pushed north from Loch Treig to Tulloch Station. The valley contains two significant bodies of water; Loch Laggan and Loch Moy. The glen also features a 'parallel road' which represents the shoreline of a large ancient ice-dammed lake, preserved on the valley sides, similar to those found in nearby Glen Roy.
