Invergowrie Bay

A bay on the north side of the Tay estuary, Invergowrie Bay lies between Invergowrie and Dundee straddling the border between Perth and Kinross and Dundee City. The Dundee and Perth Railway curves around the edge of the bay on the sea wall. On the 22nd October 1979, a rail crash killed 5 people and injured 51. A Glasgow-Aberdeen express ran into the rear of a Dundee-bound train, catapulting the four rear coaches of the latter into the bay.
