Burrow Head

A headland on the Solway Firth coast of Dumfries and Galloway, Burrow Head is the southernmost point of The Machars peninsula, extending into the Firth 2 miles (3 km) southwest of the Isle of Whithorn. Burrow Head was the location for filming the climactic scenes of the classic cult film The Wicker Man in 1972. A regular stream of fans walk through the caravan site to the south of Cutcloy to visit the site, where the concrete blocks which once supported the burning wicker man can still be seen. The ruined Castle Feather lies to the west.
