Sound of Mull

The Sound of Mull is the body of water that separates the island of Mull in Argyll and Bute from the Scottish mainland at Morven (Highland Council Area) and stretches for a distance of approximately 18 miles (27 km), with a maximum width of 3 miles (5 km). It represents an important waterway for vessels sailing from Oban, including ferry connections to the Outer Hebrides. Ferries also cross the Sound from Kilchoan to Tobermory and Lochaline to Fishnish.
