Kilbirnie Loch

A substantial loch located between the towns of Kilbirnie and Beith on the northern boundary of North Ayrshire, Kilbirnie Loch is a mile (1.5 km) in length and a half-mile (0.7 km) wide. The loch is now used for sporting activities including fishing and watersports. The Glengarnock Iron Works once occupied a significant area of land immediately to the southwest of the loch but closed in 1978 and part of the loch was infilled by rubble during its demolition.
