Cumbernauld Community Park

A substantial area of greenspace in Cumbernauld (North Lanarkshire), Cumbernauld Community Park is located a half-mile (1 km) northwest of the town centre, beyond the M80 motorway. The park extends to around 83 ha (205 acres) on a sloping site between the housing estates of Eastfield, Balloch and Carrickstone. The park includes areas of mixed and coniferous woodland, together with a picnic area, ponds and connecting paths. Eastfield Cemetery has recently been extended into the park, while the Arria statue lies on its southeastern margin overlooking the motorway. The park is owned and maintained by North Lanarkshire Council, but the Friends of Cumbernauld Community Park was founded in 2005 to ensure the area is developed in the interests of the community.
