Bridgegate Square

(Bridgegate)

A public space in the town centre of Irvine (North Ayrshire), Bridgegate Square was formed in 1982 from the western end of the historic Bridgegate - a street which once connected the High Street to a bridge across the River Irvine. It is bounded to the north by Bridgegate House, to west by the Rivergate Shopping Centre, while the historic Trinity Church dominates the southern side of the square. The square was subject to a competition-winning regeneration completed 2013, with the installation of natural stone paving, soft landscaping and pubic art, including the 9-m high Trinity Mirror sculpture.
