Brown Hill

An oval summit in the S of Dumfries and Galloway, Brown Hill rises to 88m (288 feet) to the north of Auchlane and ¾ mile (1.2 km) south of Rhonehouse. This has been interpreted as a drumlin, aligned N-S indicating the direction of flow of an ancient glacial ice sheet. There is another Brown Hill 7½ miles (12 km) to the south.
