Castlecary Locks

A pair of locks with a basin between on the course of the Forth & Clyde Canal in North Lanarkshire, Castlecary Locks lie to the south of Haggs, 2½ miles (4 km) northeast of Cumbernauld. Opened with the canal in 1790, they rise from east to west, are numbered No. 18 and 19, and are separated by 457m / 1500 feet. Lock No. 17 is located at Underwood, a half-mile (1 km) to the east.
