Gearr Abhainn, a river in Inverary parish, Argyllshire, running 5 furlongs southward from the river Shira's expansion of Douloch to Loch Fyne. Its water is alternately fresh and salt, according to the ebb or flow of the tide; and is well stored with trout, salmon, white fish, and shell fish. Its name signifies 'short river,' and alludes to the shortness of its course.Ord. Sur., sh. 37, 1876.
