Parish of Glasgow

Glasgow is a parish, which lies on the River Clyde in Glasgow City Council Area, some 2 miles (4 km) northeast of Glasgow in Glasgow City and 5 miles (9 km) southwest of Kirkintilloch in East Dunbartonshire.

It is located in the old county of Lanarkshire, which disappeared following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1974.

The parish has an area of 61.5 sq. km (23.7 sq. miles). Glasgow has 4 neighbouring parishes; namely Cadder, Govan, New Kilpatrick and Old Monkland. The boundaries of this parish were modified as a consequence of the Local Government (Scotland), 1894.
