A modern tower house in a spectacular elevated setting overlooking the entrance to Loch Carron, Ravens' Craig Tower is located a half-mile (1 km) east southeast of Duncraig Castle and 1¼ miles (2 km) east of Plockton in the West Highlands. Set in 2 ha (5 acres) of parkland, the property was completed in 1992 as his home by architect and master of the Scottish vernacular style Ian Begg (1925 - 2017). This L-plan tower includes a basement with four storeys above. A traditional wide stairway rises from the barrel-vaulted dining room and kitchen on the ground floor to the grand sitting room, which features a triangular-panelled ceiling, modelled from the Bedroom of the Five Queens, one of whom was Mary Queen of Scots (1542-87), at the Château de Chenonceau in France. A smaller circular stair with open newel, inspired by the 17th-century secondary stair in the church of San Carlo alle Quattro Fontana in Rome, rises from the tower to the upper floors, which include the principal bedroom with a traditional beamed-ceiling and a wooden balcony overlooking the loch. The property includes four further bedrooms, one enclosed within the pitched slate roof. There is a south-facing conservatory to the rear and an Italianate loggia-style terrace projects to the west from the ground floor.
