Paralympic medalist. Raised on a croft in Lochdon on Mull in the Inner Hebrides, Harrower was blind from birth. Her father drowned when she was a baby, but her mother raised her not to see her disability as a handicap. She was educated at the Royal Blind School in Edinburgh, trained in physiotherapy in London and worked in this profession based in Oban.
Harrower excelled in sport and won a silver medal for discus and bronze medal for shot-putt at the paralympic games in Montreal in 1976.
