Stepps

North Lanarkshire

A northeastern suburb of Glasgow, Stepps lies on the Cumbernauld Road in North Lanarkshire to the north of Garthamlock. It developed following the arrival of the railway in 1831 and later in association with brass founding, whisky blending and the Cardowan Colliery which operated until 1984. The Buchanan Business Park was developed here in the 1990s, with the Buchanan Gate Business Park following a decade later, now home to Scottish Water's national operations centre.
