Falkirk

The largest village in rural Falkirk Council area, situated on the Culloch Burn in an upland area 6 miles (9.5 km) southwest of Falkirk. It is the chief settlement of the parish of Slamannan which was known as the parish of St Laurence in pre-Reformation times. During the 19th Century the village developed as a mining settlement.
