Clachan

Argyll and Bute

A village on the Kintyre Peninsula, Argyll and Bute, Clachan lies near the mouth of West Loch Tarbert, 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Tarbert. Associated with the Clan Alasdair, Clachan has a number of carved stones depicting clan chiefs. Loup Hill, which lies 1¼ miles (2 km) to the northeast, was the site of the last major battle on Kintyre. Government troops defeated soldiers loyal to King James VII here in May 1689.
