Strathdon

(Invernochty)
Aberdeenshire

A community in a district and parish of the same name in West Aberdeenshire, Strathdon lies at the junction of the Water of Nochty with the River Don. The settlement was once known as Invernochty. Sometimes known as the Cathedral of the Strath, the large Church of Strathdon dates from 1851. There is also a primary school and post office. The Lonach Highland Gathering and Games are held each August at Bellabeg on the north bank of the Don.
