A hamlet in Moray, Milltown of Auchindoun lies on the River Fiddich, 2 miles (3 km) east of Dufftown. Nearby are the ruins of 15th-century Gordon stronghold of Auchindoun Castle which was destroyed in 1592 to revenge the murder of the Bonnie Earl of Moray. The old mill was the site of illicit whisky distilling until the first decade of the 20th Century.
