A village in the Aberdeenshire parish of Marykirk, Luthermuir lies a mile (1.5 km) to the north of the River North Esk, 8 miles (13 km) northwest of Montrose. Once dependent on farming and weaving, it is situated on the Luther Muir to the north of the River Luther. To the west there are Bronze Age long barrows at Capo and Dalladies.
