Moray

A distillery settlement in W Moray built in 1869 next to the Strathspey Railway by John Smith, a noted distiller of the time, on land leased from Sir George Macpherson-Grant. Ballindalloch Station remains extant despite closing in 1968. It served for a time as a youth hostel but was sold by owners Moray Council in 2012.
