Balfarg

A locality in central Fife situated to the north of Cadham and west of Balbirnie, Balfarg is a residential area now lying within the bounds of Glenrothes, the administrative centre of Fife. Prior to the building of houses a prehistoric henge monument was excavated to reveal grave pits and artefacts. Originally comprising rings of massive upright timbers and stone, the 60-metre-wide earthwork still remains. This prehistoric site is linked to the nearby Balbirnie Stone Circle and dates from the 3rd and 2nd millennia BC.
