Loch nan Gabhar

A small and shallow loch in the S of the island of Islay in Argyll and Bute, Loch nan Gabhar (meaning 'loch of the goat' in Gaelic) is located a half-mile 91 km) southeast of Machrie and 2½ miles (4 km) northwest of Port Ellen. Extending to 11.7 ha (28.9 acres), it receives water from several streams and field drains, and casts off a tributary of the Kintra River to the northwest.
