The smaller of a pair of small lochs in the S of the island of Islay, Lochan Sholum extends to 5.4 ha (13.3 acres) and is situated 2 miles (3 km) northwest of Ardbeg. It received water from a tiny lochan lying close to the summit of Beinn Sholum and drains to the west into Loch Sholum. Known together as the Sholum Lochs, they supply water to Lagavulin Distillery.
