White Cart Water and Town Hall, Paisley

The White Cart Water rises on the Eaglesham Moor and flows north through Busby, Cathcart, past the site of the Battle of Langside and Pollokshaws, where it progresses through the Pollok Country Park, before joining the Black Cart Water to the west northwest of Renfrew. Between its source and Busby, the White Cart Water forms the boundary between the East Renfrewshire and South Lanarkshire, and then between Sheddens and Netherlee the boundary between East Renfrewshire and Glasgow City Council areas. It now flows in a culvert beneath the Piazza Shopping Centre in the centre of Paisley. Its many tributaries include the Earn Water, Kittoch Water and Levern Water. The White Cart Water was navigable as far as Seedhill Craigs in Paisley.
