Carfin Railway Station

(An Càrn Fionn)

Carfin Railway Station (known in Gaelic An Càrn Fionn) lies on the Shotts Line, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northeast of Carfin and a similar distance north of the Carfin Grotto and Pilgrimage Centre in North Lanarkshire. This station was built on the Caledonian Railway's Cleland and Midcalder Line some years after the line opened. Now operated by ScotRail, Carfin Railway Station is unstaffed and has seen passenger numbers rise from 81,498 (2009-10) to 131,190 (2016-17). It is preceded by Cleland Railway Station, 2 miles (3 km) to the east, and followed by Holytown, a mile (1.5 km) to the west northwest.
