A summit in North Lanarkshire, Hirst Hill rises to 294m (965 feet) immediately to the south of the M8 Motorway, a quarter-mile (0.5 km) west of Hirst and 2 miles (3 km) east northeast of Salsburgh. The Kirk o' Shotts Transmitting Station was established here by the BBC in 1952.
