A small settlement in North Lanarkshire, Hirst comprises a few houses and farms at North Hirst and South Hirst. It is located 1½ miles / 2.5 km east southwest of Eastfield. The Hirst Road extends west to Kirk o' Shotts, while the Kirk o' Shotts Transmitting Station is located on Hirst Hill a quarter-mile / 0.5 km to the west.
