A sizeable quarry which cuts into the eastern slopes of the iconic Dunsinane Hill in the Sidlaws of Perth & Kinross, Collace Quarry lies a half-mile (0.8 km) southeast of the hamlet of Collace. There was a small quarry here at the end of the 19th C. but a much larger venture, extending to 11.4 ha (28 acres), is now operated by Tayside Contracts, the commercial trading arm of Angus, Dundee City and Perth & Kinross Councils. It exploits igneous rocks of Devonian age to produce aggregate for road-building.
