Distillery Burn

A lade which draws peaty water from above a weir in the Leorin River, located just to the west of the B8016 road, opposite the farm at Leorin. The Distillery Burn flows south for 3 miles (5 km), collecting the Sruthan na Sroine Duibhe and several other small streams along the way, to reach a small storage reservoir immediately to the north of Port Ellen Distillery. The water was used in whisky-making and continues to be used for malting barley. Unused water is discharged into the sea to the west of Port Ellen.
