Westfield

North Lanarkshire

Westfield is a western suburb of Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, located 2¼ miles (3.5 km) west southwest of the town centre. Shown on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey map (1864) as a farmstead, it now comprises an area of public housing - much of it sold under right-to-buy legislation - with a large industrial estate to the west. St. Maurice's High School and Westfield Primary School are located here, while the headquarters A.G. Barr Plc - makers of 'Irn Bru' known as "Scotland's other national drink" - is now located in Westfield next to a substantial production plant. The other major occupier was a supply warehouse for Marks and Spencer, operated by the logistics company DHL, but this closed in 2014. Westfield is separated from the suburbs of Dalshannon and Condorrat by the M80 motorway (formerly the A80 trunk road). Broadwood Loch lies immediately to the northwest.
