The most southerly of a collection of small crofting townships which comprise the locality of Melness to the west of Tongue Bay in Sutherland (Highland Council Area), Midtown lies opposite Coldbackie, 1¼ miles (2 km) south of Talmine and 3 miles (5 km) north of Tongue. Melness House is located here.
