A small settlement in the middle of the island of East Burra in Shetland, Houss overlooks West Voe 8 miles (13 km) south southwest of Lerwick and just to the north of Ayre Dyke, a narrow neck of land that provides access to Houss Ness, which forms the southern part of the island.
