Ross Whyte


1998 -

Curling champion. Born in York but raised in Dumfries, where he started curling at the age of six in the junior programme at Dumfries Ice Bowl. He was educated at Wallace Hall Academy and the University of Stirling, where he read sports studies. Whyte is a member of Crocketford Curling Club, and joined Team Mouat as alternate and its youngest member, with Bruce Mouat (b. 1994), Hammy McMillan (b. 1992), Grant Hardie (b. 1992) and Bobby Lammie (b. 1997). This team went on to significant success, gaining gold medals at the European Curling Championships in Tallin (2018) and Lillehammer (2021), a bronze medal at the World Men's Curling Championships in Calgary (2021) and a silver for Great Britain at the Beijing Winter Olympics (2022). The team trains in Stirling.
